“The Prince of Rome”

THE kindly feeling between the government of Italy and the Vatican is indicated by a little circumstance of late. The king’s children are all baptized into the Catholic Church, and the three older have recently been confirmed. When his oldest son, Humbert, was baptized, the Masonic party of Italy urged that he be called “prince of Rome;” but out of deference to the pope, the king would not yield to the request. His title is, prince of Piedmont. The pope claims the title of prince of Rome.
