He Comes to Bestow the Right

By Worthie Harris Holden
O, where are the halcyon days of earth? For the war winds strive, and their blight has birth, And the dastard deeds of each deadly foe The flower of the neighbor land lay low, And moans take the place of mirth.
Pray thou that the whirlwind’s fierce rage may cease, That a lull may come, with its truce of peace, That forth from the havoc may swift uprear A banner upheld by each volunteer Who heralds the Prince of peace.
He comes, for the world is full drenched with woe, He comes, and His might will to right bestow Eternity’s seal and eternal gain, And banish the horror of death and pain, And His joy shall the faithful know.
