The Waiting Time

JOB has said: “Man dieth, and wasteth away: yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he?” “His sons come to honor, and he knoweth it not; and they are brought low, but he perceiveth it not of them.” Job 14:10, 21.
The son may attain great earthly glory, and become a Raphael, a Gladstone, or a Lincoln, with praises sung in every clime. Yet the sleeping father knows it not. His son may become a vagabond upon the earth, with no home but a box car. Yet the sleeping father knows it not.
“If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.” Verse 14. Thus the Christian sleeps in the grave waiting for the change described in 1 Cor. 15:51-54: “We shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.” “Then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.” E. W. CATLIN.
