“Delight”

WHAT is the great recipe for successful work for Christ? Prayer, says one. Faith, says another. Consecration, says a third. Love, says a fourth. No, says the Bible. A very remarkable recipe, indeed, it gives. Listen to it. “Delight.” But that is truly the condition, or, if you prefer, qualification, sought; for note, “Delight thyself . . . in the Lord; and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart.” Ps. 37: 4.
Do you desire souls for Jesus? Delight thyself in the Lord. Do you desire to bring family or pupils to Christ? Delight thyself in the Lord. Do you desire to accomplish any great and high purpose for God? Delight is the talisman. “Prayer,” “faith,” “love,” “consecration,” are wonderful words; but there is celestial magic in delight; nay, rather let us say, celestial science. Surely this is a science worth mastering. Shall we not take the Bible and discover the laws that govern delight in God? J. A. L. DERBY.
