CALIFORNIA stands fourth in the list of states that are manufacturing alcoholic liquors. Pennsylvania has 668 makers of liquor; New York, 663; Illinois, 320; California, 250; Ohio, 247; Wisconsin, 210. In proportion to her population, California has more makers of the poison than any of these leading states,—has more of the business that destroys her men.
