“The Most Serious Industrial Situation”
MR. LLOYD-GEORGE, England's noted statesman, predicts that immediately following this war there will be an artificial stimulus to trade which comes from the abnormal conditions; “but when that period is over we shall be face to face with one of the most serious industrial situations with which we have ever been confronted. We shall have exhausted an enormous amount of the capital of the world, and our purchasers at home and abroad will be crippled.” And it might be further added, in harmony with the prophecy of Mr. Lloyd-George, that when that “serious industrial situation” arrives, we will also be face to face with some of the scenes of rioting, violence, and strife that the prophets have told us will characterize the last hours of earth's history.
