“Seek, and Ye Shall Find”
By Annie Wall
Does life's way seem to thee
Up-hill and rough?
And is love's oil of joy
Still not enough?
Seek that thy soul may know
God's truth outweighs
The heaped up measure of
Earth's fullest days. Behold the morn's gray mist
Burned into fire
Of red and gold; for, lo,
The sun mounts higher!
The yielding day unfolds,
Receives the light,
And, trusting, casts aside
The garb of night. So may our souls expand
In truth revealed,
If, seeking, we find light,
And, finding, yield
Our all to Him who came
To set us free
From all fear's doubts, and give
Soul liberty. Obedience is the test.
God bids us seek,
Not with a feeble faith
And courage weak,
But with an open heart,
A yielding will,
And empty vessels held
For Him to fill. O, ye who hope in God.
Be strong and brave;
Fear not earth's beating storms,
Fear not the grave.
Not hopeless pilgrims we,
Earth's ways to roam,
But children of that light
Which leads us home.
