Feeding upon Ashes

THE frivolities of the world are disappointing and depressing, and persons who feed upon them may be said to feed upon ashes. These things do not satisfy the natural hunger of the heart after God. The allurements of Satan, like a peculiar plant of central Australia, for a time allay the cravings of appetite, but eventually sap the vitality and cause death. We should partake of that which is good spiritually, as well as that which is good physically. God's word is the bread of life, and it only will give satisfaction. ELIZA H. MORTON.
