A Live Wire for God

A TELEPHONE wire was hanging down in the way of the heads of passers-by on the sidewalk. Was it a live wire? No one knew, until a gentleman ventured to touch it. It was harmless — no current in it. Passing on, I thought: “There are many professed Christians just like that wire. They look like Christians, they pass as such; and yet after all, the human touch reveals that there is no divine current passing through them, over which God can send messages of hope and cheer and salvation to those farther on in the gloom of earth’s dense darkness.” There is truly such a thing as being “a live wire for God.” T.
