God Is Love, Not the Author of War

THE text says, “He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.” 1 John 4:8. There is absolutely no hatred in the character of God. Therefore God cannot be the author of war or of anything else that is dependent upon hatred for its existence. Wicked men become so depraved and cruel as to compel God to destroy them, but even in the destruction of the wicked there is no hatred on the part of God. “God is love.”
