“The Wrath of God”

WHAT! Can that be in the Bible?—Yes, many times. But does God really get angry?—No; He is angry all the time, and will be as long as sinners exist, for the Scripture says He “is angry with the wicked every day.”
Quite different from the creature of flabby moral sentiment conceived to be God by this age, is the God of the Bible. The wrath of God! But as His thoughts are not our thoughts, and are as much higher than ours as heaven is higher than earth, so His wrath is not the hasty, unjust, arbitrary, impatient, and often cruel wrath of man. It is the wrath of daylight against darkness, of water against fire, of the physician against the plague. God and sin are opposites. They can not exist together. To sin God is a consuming fire. “Yea,” said Jesus, “I say unto you, Fear Him.” J. A. L. DERBY.
