“Whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”
1 Cor. 10:31.
Do you seek joy, and peace, and sweet assurance,
O troubled heart, along time’s rocky shore?
A highway leads to these. Who wills, may find it.
Lo, Jesus, Prince of peace, walked there before.
Look now to Calv’ry’s hill. He suffered there
With joy, to clear the way, that all might share
These joys with Him, to-day and evermore.
“The Glory of the Lord”—so reads each sign-board.
On Calv’ry’s cross, in living streams ’twas plain.
The way is steep, but by your side is Jesus.
He is your strength. His blood clears every stain.
Each step is peace, with Him to guide, each day,
Where’er the sign-boards point. Tho’ dark the way,
He holds your hand, and heights of joy you gain.
“Glory to God” is angels’ joy and glory.
Love’s sweetest joys are there to-day, as when
O’er Judah’s hills first rang the joyful story,
Redemption’s way of “peace, good will to men.”
You who are sad, walk in this peaceful way,
“Glory to God,” in all you do and say.
Tell others of this way of peace, and then,
O, tell each soul of Calv’ry’s healing fountain,
For there may sinners wash with joy to-day.
“Good will to men” yet rings o’er vale and mountain.
On earth is peace, for all who find the way.
Delight to do God’s will, with Christ, each day;
And now, and at the journey’s end, you’ll say
’Tis joy “the glory of the Lord” to win.
