IN speaking of the Lord’s uniting with the twelve to celebrate the Passover, the simple record is, “In the evening He cometh with the twelve.” There is no ostentation, no show. “The kingdom of God cometh not with observation.” But no council of war, no ecclesiastical conclave ever held on earth, can begin to compare in importance with this gathering. In a lowly place, behind the closed doors of this guest-chamber, a work was in progress which eventually will restore a ruined, sinful race to God, and blot sin eternally from the universe.
