Whence the Power?

Whence the Power?—In the Los Angeles Record of April 3, 1913, is this item:
“Eleven ministers have, Thursday, been sworn in as police officers by Chief Sebastian,”
Benjamin Franklin truly said:
“When religion is good, it will take care of itself. When it is not able to take care of itself, and God does not see fit to take care of it, so that they have to call upon the civil authorities for protection, it is evidence to my mind that its cause is a bad one.”
To turn from Christ and seek the power of the state on religious or moral questions is a confession that we have forsaken Him.
