Worship

By Leroy A. Morrison
I sing the praises of the Lord Who shelters and protects me; I magnify the mighty word Wherein His mind directs me. The ills endure, I walk secure By ramparts that surround me; The perils hide, My joys abide Since Christ, my Lord, hath found me.
To praise Him were a little thing, If words were all we brought him; A vagrant lip might lightly sing As if a soul had sought Him; But when the heart, From speech apart, Thanksgivings fain would pour Him; Ah! then the tongue Hath quickly sung The measures that adore Him.
We should not rush unheeding in, Forgetting our unmeetness; For lips like ours, befouled by sin, Need sanctifying sweetness. The cleansing blood By Jesus shed, Which doth our altar sprinkle— That blood, I ween, Doth wash us clean, Without a stain or wrinkle.
We worship Him, God over all, Who reigns in light above us; Low at His feet, before Him fall, Because He doth so love us. O’er all our days, In all our ways, His mercy faileth never; With soul aflame, We praise His name Forever and forever.
