How Much More Now!

THE object of John the Baptist's ministry was, to convert souls. His message was, “Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
Since John gave as a reason for repentance, the fact that the kingdom of heaven was at hand before the first advent of Christ, of how much more importance is it for us who are living just previous to the second advent, to repent, because the kingdom of heaven is at hand!
This repentance is not an outward form, a pleasing appearance, an eloquent speech. It is an inward grace, having God in the heart, and having the mind of Jesus. It consists in having all the heavenly graces mingled in one. We are regenerated by giving our entire selves, our all, to God. He creates in us a clean heart, renews in us a right spirit, and makes us happy and contented. Our wicked thoughts, evil words, and unrighteous ways, which mean death, are relinquished; and God gives us His love, His favor, and His life, which means everlasting salvation. M. G. CONGER.
