The Saints’ Reward

By John Francis Olmsted
THE groaning earth is growing old Beneath her load of woe; With bended form and visage worn She waits some change below.
Six thousand years have onward sped And left their lines of care, The hopes of men are often spurned And shattered everywhere.
But He who rules in heavens high, And hears His children call, Will never leave the faithful here, But shield and shelter all.
And then a land of endless song, Where sin shall never sway, Awaits the ones who overcome Temptations day by day.
