A Great Movement.

In our Outlook department will be found a report of the recent Laymen’s Missionary Congress at Chicago. It is indeed a great movement. It ought to stir the Protestant churches to new vigor. “The National Missionary Policy” adopted at the Chicago meeting calls for a recognition of right principles in missionary work. The appeal to church-members to cooperate in a great mutual obligation is truly evangelical. Yet there is danger before the movement. If it swings into the great church-federation policy, it will soon find itself in politics; it will become autocratic, and will die spiritually. Would that it might see the fulness of the message of the everlasting Gospel.
