Witnessing for Christ

ARE you alone in a community, fellow Christian? Do you hesitate about speaking a word for Him because you are alone?
Shortly after Frances Ridley joined the church she was sent to a boarding-school. Of the one hundred girls in the school she was the only church-member. What should she do? Great feelings of dread arose; she could not confess Christ in that assembly of gay, worldly companions.
Yet as she thought upon it she came to feel, How can I do otherwise than confess Him? He is all in all to me. She was the only representative He had at that school. This thought gave her courage; had she not, in His providence, been placed there for the very purpose of confessing the name of Christ? If she failed her Lord, He would have no representative, no witness, in the company of all those precious young souls. She would witness for Him.
The same principle is true in the case of every one of us. We are in the world in our special community, neighborhood, environment, to witness for Christ. If the only one, so much greater the need of the faithful testimony in word and deed. “Who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” Esther 4:14. “Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of Me and of My words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of Man be ashamed, when He cometh in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.” Mark 8:38. Remember that—
“Wheresoe’er the Master calleth, Whatsoe’er He bids me do, Is the only field of labor That His grace will bear me through.”
