Waiting

By Carrie Phelps
WE are waiting, waiting, waiting, For the coming of the King; We are waiting for the music Of the song the angels sing; We are waiting for the coming Of that glad reunion day, When sin and death and sorrow Have forever passed away.
Let’s forget the chains that bind us, And the weights that hold us low. Let us rise and claim the promise That our Father doth bestow. Let us carry palms of victory, And songs of triumph sing, While we walk the royal highway To the city of the King.
Shall we faint and sink and falter ’Neath the burden of our load, While we have a princely Helper All along this royal road? While we have a light to guide us, And a resting-place most sweet, A sure and happy refuge, At our blessed Master’s feet?
We are waiting, waiting, waiting, For the coming of the Lord; We are clinging to the comfort Of the promise of His Word. While we kneel in meek submission, And bow humbly to His will, We are waiting for His glory When His Word He shall fulfil.
