Investigating Old-Age Pensions

House Resolution 57 of the present Congress is a bill which has for its purpose the appointment of a committee to investigate the various systems of old-age insurance and old-age pensions and annuities in operation in the different countries of the world, and to determine the practicability of establishing such systems in the United States. The author of this resolution is the Hon. Frederick Lundin, who has given much study to the subject. It seems to us that the condition of the country must be bad that even suggests such a measure as this. Our remark, however, does not lie against the measure, but against conditions.
