The Perils of Speed and Excitement
The despatches every day are filled with accounts of deaths and injuries that are coming through all sorts of accidents. There are accidents with automobiles, accidents with motorcycles, accidents with air-ships, accidents on railroad and steamship, and so on through to the end of the list. One of the sad things about these accidents is that many of them occur among parties of pleasure. Another sad thing is that many of them could be avoided if it were not for the craze for speed and excitement that seems to possess the people of this age. It is far better to go a little slower and a little more safely, and live a long and happy and useful life, than it is to drive so fast and to come so prematurely to an abrupt end.
