Jesus Our Friend

By Laella M. Kendall
Jesus is our friend in need; All His counsels safely heed. He alone will kiss away All the tears of every day.
Jesus is my all and all. When I'm sorry, I will call; He will hear me, love me, too, He will pardon, lead me through —
Through the rugged, rocky way Of this world's life-weary day, To a blest, a safe retreat, For the cut and bleeding feet.
As we journey, we must pray, Lift our eyes, and look away, Never doubting. Never fear— Always trust Him, He is here.
Blessed Jesus — Holy One — Kindly lead us, guide us on To the happy, golden shore, Where life's sorrows are no more.
When I fold my hands to sleep, Careful watch my Jesus keep; Then it is my sleep is sweet, And the words in dreams repeat:
Blessed Jesus — Holy One — Kindly lead us, guide us on To the happy, golden shore, Where life's sorrows are no more.
