China Orders New Dress for Women

The new Republic of China has ordered an abandonment of the century-old costumes of the Orient; and women must discard their picturesque trousers, and wear skirts. Only three forms of dress are prescribed for her,—a loose-fitting dress for every-day wear, and the other two garments are for best wear, one a plaited skirt of extreme conventional lines, and the other a shirt-waist that follows strictly straight lines.
