Dry Dock Dewey Sinks in Subig Bay

The great dry dock Dewey, built at the expense of a million dollars, transported to the Philippines at great expense, now lies at the bottom of Subig Bay. Water displacing valves were left open, and the great structure, 106 x 500 feet, large enough to accommodate the biggest Dreadnought, went down. The machinery, capable of lifting 24,000 tons dead weight, is said to be ruined. This is one of the items of war cost in time of peace.
