Forward, Go Forward!

By Lola Johnson Young
(Tune: "Rock Me to Sleep, Mother")
Forward, go forward, O Time, in your flight; Bring me thus nearer the sweet home of light; Nearer the rest on the beautiful shore; Nearer to seeing friends loved so of yore; Nearer to laying these pains and aches down; Nearer to gaining the bright golden crown; Nearer to seeing my dear Saviour's face; And singing forever the theme of free grace.

Chorus:

Soon I will have all my tears wiped away; Soon I'll be singing His praises for aye; Soon I'll be laying this heavy cross down; And seeing my Saviour, who'll give me a crown.
When I grow weary of dust and decay, Then I'm reminded He said, "Watch and pray;" Then to my thoughts come this comforting strain, My Holy Spirit shall with you remain. He'll comfort and guide you, and bring to your mind Things I have told you, tho left far behind. Over your journey He'll loving watch keep, 'Till you lie down, in your Saviour asleep.
