Women and Intoxicating Liquor

In the Colorado Senate, a few days ago, Senator John Hecker, of Denver, affirmed that “twenty women to one man, in Denver, drink intoxicating liquor, and they drink more than men.” The senator was doubtless a bit excited, and overdrew the facts. But there is no denying the truth that women are coming to drink a great deal more than in former days. Reliable statistics show an increase each year of the amount of intoxicants consumed, and the women are bearing their part of this wrong.
