A Bible Colporteur’s Ordeal

DURING the war a Bible colporteur who was doing work in Mesopotamia had a very unpleasant experience with a band of Kurds. His name is Yusuf Boghas Ikaib, and his headquarters are at Mosul, on the Tigris River. He was stoned and imprisoned, horribly tortured and then left for dead with three bullets in his right leg, surrounded by a number of his friends who had been shot down in cold blood by this band of Kurds. He recovered and eventually got into touch with the British and Foreign Bible Society's depot at Bagdad and is once more circulating the Scriptures in Mosul. This colporteur, after relating his experiences to the Bible Society, closed by saying, “I would not give up my present position for the highest position of the world and all its riches.”
