Prof. Paul Haupt tells us that Moses was not an Israelite, that Jewish monotheism came from Egypt, that the Israelites were not in Egypt, that the sublime scenes of Sinai were a volcanic eruption; etc., etc. It would be easier to believe there was no Moses, no Israel. The mental acrobatics and contortions and writhings of the “Higher Critics” are marvelous. Their deductions, if true, would be truly miraculous. It is so much easier to the honestly doubtful mind to believe the Bible.
