We continue our readings in Deuteronomy. They are of wonderful interest and intense practical instruction. Chapter 14 is omitted. It rehearses the instruction given in Leviticus 11, regarding clean and unclean meats, which we have already passed over. Also chapter 16, somewhat parallel with Leviticus 23, regarding the yearly feasts. Deuteronomy 13 presents a good test by which to try prophets. The last part of chapter 17 foreshadowed the coming kingdom in Israel, and gave instruction as to what the king ought to be. And chapter 18 contains a direct prophecy of our blessed Lord. We close the week with Psalm 105, a very fitting accompaniment, referring as it does to God's dealings with Israel.
