Dr. Eliot's New Religion.—

The religion of the future was just such a religion as might be expected from Dr. Eliot, a Unitarian. It is simply Unitarianism, with more or less color of imagination and speculation. One would hardly expect, however, to find Baptists endorsing it, and yet the New York Evening Journal of September 27 declares that Dr. Chas. F. Aked, John D. Rockefeller's Baptist pastor, approved for the most part Dr. Eliot's article on the religion of the future. He says, “I welcome this paper as a noble and most important contribution to the most essential things of human life.” He thinks there are tremendous gaps in that new religion yet to be filled, as for instance, the need of a personal Christ. But all this is met by the Bible.
