Coming Down.

The newspapers report that a pastor of an Episcopal Church in Dayton, Ohio, permits smoking during afternoon service. If we rightly remember, the saloon business was tried by a minister in New York a few years ago; but somehow he could not make it a success. The saloon—which he called an inn—did not pay, nor was his church prospered. Ruin and religion would not mix, nor do piety and godliness thrive in tobacco smoke. And men will trust in tobacco smoking to draw a crowd instead of looking to God.
