Loss and Gain

(This note should have been printed last week.)
It is easier to bear a loss if some friend is the gainer thereby. We are passing through this experience just now in the Pacific Press. We lose this week three men from whom we greatly regret to part; namely, Pastor Asa Oscar Tait, the editor of the Signs of the Times Monthly, and associate editor of this journal; Mr. Max Hill, assistant editor of this journal; and Mr. J. L. Stansbury.
The first takes a position on the local board and faculty of the new Pacific College at Angwin's, this state, where his long and varied experience will be a great blessing, and where his own health will be built up. Personally, our associations have been very pleasant, and he will still contribute to the SIGNS OF THE TIMES. We shall greatly miss him in our councils, our daily prayer seasons, and our evangelical meetings.
Mr. Hill goes from us to take charge of a flourishing parochial school at Sanitarium, Cal. Tho rendering us excellent service, the call of the school—for he was a teacher before he came among us—was too strong to hold him. He will be missed in the office, in church, and among the young people and at missionary meeting.
Prof. L. A. Reed will take the editorship of the Signs Monthly. The editorial burden on both journals will fall heavily upon the present incumbents, who will feel the loss of these brethren and co-workers. We need the prayers of our readers.
Mr. and Mrs. Stansbury went from us last year to teach in Alberta, but returned in vacation. He is now called to take the principalship of Williamsdale Academy, in East Nova Scotia. Mrs. Stansbury, who is also an excellent teacher, will connect with the academy.
May God's blessing abundantly rest upon these dear souls who are one with us still.
