Is the Bible the Word of God?

It is a momentous question; for if it is not the Word of God, the Christian church, and the Jewish church before it, have been deceived during all their history. The Jewish people always supposed that they were favored above all other nations in the fact that, as Paul expresses it, “unto them were committed the oracles of God,” and the Christian church has rejoiced from the first in the possession of these “oracles of God,” and in the fact that it has not only the oracles which Israel had, but also the words of the Lord Jesus, to whom the Old Testament bears witness, and the words of those who could testify of Christ’s wonderful life on earth, of His resurrection from the dead and His ascension into glory.— Rev. Parke P. Flournoy.
