—A “New Philosophy” book before us, written by an “evangelical” pastor, declares that “history is largely made up of attempts of humanity to build walls of separation. Men have been continually putting up bars around themselves, shutting out God and nature and their fellow men.” And this is true. The one mighty, effective wall of separation is sin. Sin separates men from God. Isa. 59:2. The apostle Paul, referring to the past unregenerate condition of Christians, declares, “That ye were at that time separate from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of the promise, having no hope and without God in the world.” Eph. 2:12. Such are “alienated from the life of God.” Eph. 4:18. But this writer, and others of the new philosophy cult, would have us believe that sinful man is not without God, but that God is within him, tho he believes not, while faith simply recognizes man’s divinity. Such philosophy makes of none effect the vicarious offering of Christ and leaves the sinner without hope. The wall of separation remains.
