It is estimated by competent medical authorities who have investigated the matter, that from 30 to 75 per cent of the deaths of children below two years could and should be prevented. Among the causes are diarrhea and enteritis, 60 per cent; broncho-pneumonia, 30 per cent; croup, 75 per cent; diphtheria, 70 per cent; diseases directly the outgrowth of vice, 70 per cent. Surely there should be a waking up on the part of parents.
