The French Navy

The French Navy.— The new naval program of France proposes two Dreadnoughts in 1910, two in 1911, and two in 1912, differing to some extent in their arrangement from either the American or the British navy. This will give France, by the time 1915 is reached, 19 armor clads, of which 12 will be Dreadnoughts. The cost of the vessels is now estimated at $14,800,000 each; thus the cost of these six battle-ships alone, saving nothing of the smaller vessels which will be built in the meantime, and all the other war expenses, means over two and one fifth dollars for every man, woman, and child in the republic.
