Anna Held, the noted actress, declares, “It is dangerous, very dangerous” for young women to go on the stage. And she emphasizes this by saying that they should shun the stage as they would the bubonic plague. Why? “Because those that get along must do so only at the cost of their innocence and their reputation.”
