Church Bells for African Missions

“In kraals or villages of East Central Africa, in churches where there is no bell, the sexton calls the people to worship by blowing upon a horn. Such a call is necessary because the natives have no clocks or watches and do not keep track of the passing hours. As the sexton is frequently the only man who can blow the horn, his absence practically stops operations. It is because of this that requests for church bells come from so many mission stations in Africa.”
