The Lord’s Day

JOHN was “in the Spirit on the Lord’s day.” Rev. 1:10. There are many who believe the Lord’s day to be the first day of the week. But where did we ever learn that the Lord’s day was the first day of the week, commonly called Sunday? But the Bible says, “The seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God.” Ex. 20:10. Whose day is it?—The Lord’s day. “Thou camest down also upon Mount Sinai, and spakest with them from heaven, and gavest them right judgments and true laws, good statutes and commandments: and madest known unto them Thy holy Sabbath.” Neh. 9:13, 14. Whose day was the holy Sabbath?—The Lord’s day. “If thou turn away thy foot from the Sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on My holy day; and call the Sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord.” Isa. 58:13. Whose holy day?—The Lord’s day.
“For the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath day.” Matt. 12:8. To whom does the Sabbath day belong?—To the Lord. Now find where He ever called the first day His day. Surely not in the Bible.
These texts prove that there is a seventh day, that it is the Sabbath, the holy Sabbath, the Lord’s day.
God or man, whose word shall stand? “There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand.” Prov. 19:21. “Every plant, which My heavenly Father planted not, shall be rooted up.” Matt. 15:13.
