Christ’s Yoke for Spiritual Work

CHRIST says, “Take My yoke upon you.” Just as the yoke is the means by which the strength of the ox is applied to the drawing of a mighty load, so Christ offers the means of doing the work of the spiritual life. The child tugs at the heavy stone with its fingers without disturbing it or accomplishing anything but the irritation of flesh and nerves. Then comes the man of knowledge with his lever and fulcrum and moves the stone as he may desire. Now, we are children without strength or knowledge to deal with spiritual things. Christ comes with the lever and the fulcrum. He will move for us the heavy loads. Heed His words: “Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me.”
