The Charge Against Jesus

THE true charge which the enemies of Jesus brought against Him revealed the selfishness of their own hearts, and was to His highest honor. That charge was, “This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them.”
He did receive them.
As charged again, “He was a friend of publicans and sinners.”
He is to-day. As of old time, He will come to be a “guest with a man that is a sinner” if the heart is opened to receive Him and the invitation is given. Nay, more, He comes and knocks at the door of the sinner’s heart, and asks for admission.
Let Him in, sinner. He comes to bless. “What a friend we have in Jesus!” Tho all others forsake us, He will seek us out, and save us.
The charge which His enemies made against Him is to His everlasting honor—“This Man receiveth sinners.”
