Eliot’s Predicted New Religion

Dr. Charles W. Eliot, ex-president of Harvard, who has predicted a new religion, is himself a Unitarian; and the religion which he predicts, Unitarianism. It is along the lines of the present trend in religious thought, a religion of evolution. He declared: “The new religion will not teach that character can be changed quickly;” “God will be so immanent that no intermediary will be needed,” both of which expressions clearly show that the Lord Jesus Christ is left out of the question, as are also conversion, the new birth, regeneration, and recreation. Thank God the old religion in all its power still abides.
