An Evil Law

An Evil Law.—In our Outlook department, page 10, is a frank, clear account of a trial for the heinous “crime” of “picking strawberries on Sunday.” Every lover of liberty will commend the action of the jury. But the record gives another instance of how a bad law can be made the instrument of over-zealous, bigoted persons to persecute their unoffending fellows. It was the same spirit which found fault with Jesus and His disciples for rubbing out wheat and eating it on the Sabbath day. Why not leave God to care for His own. Or is there a fear that He will not own Sunday?
