Our Work and Workers

BROTHER B. L. HOUSE reports three new Sabbath keepers as the result of meetings held in Fairmount, Va.
Two persons have recently begun to observe the seventh day as a result of readings held by Sister Anna C. Rice in the state of Virginia.
A NUMBER are accepting the truth as a result of the meetings now being held at St. Johnsville, N. Y. One man who has held a lucrative position in the mill for fifteen years is willing to give it up for the sake of the truth. This he plans to do as soon as the owner of the mill comes.
THE meetings being conducted in Norfolk, Va., by Brethren Muntz and Rogers are growing in interest from night to night, so that most of the time the tent is about full. As elsewhere, the brethren find that the house-to-house work is what counts in their work. At these meetings seventeen have taken their stand for the truth and are awaiting baptism. For the past two weeks the attendance has packed the tent, often to overflowing.
SABBATH, August 14, at the close of the service of the West Philadelphia church, opportunity was given for testimonies from those who have recently begun the observance of the Sabbath. The statement from a lady who was a high Episcopalian, was the keynote of all. She stated that she had been a member of the Episcopal Church for fifteen years, but she had had more joy and peace in the last three weeks since she had begun to keep the Sabbath than she had known during all the previous fifteen years.
A SABBATH-SCHOOL of eighteen adults and twelve children has been organized at Mansfield, Mass., and the interest in the meetings continues unabated. One of the workers reports: “Ministers advise the people not to come; the papers make unpleasing changes in our articles; rowdies threaten to pull the tent down over our heads; and the wind would have done it but for prayer; yet Satan is thwarted on every hand. One preacher is to speak on the ‘Nature and Destiny of Man’ in answer to us, and God, unknown to us, has stirred up a good lady here to hold a temperance rally in our tent. When she spoke for the tent we could not refuse, for we saw God’s hand in it to strengthen our work. This lady, who is president of the W. C. T. U. here, will have speakers from Boston. She has chosen the same day for the rally that the preacher chose for his talk. We will follow it by a deep temperance talk, to let the people know where we stand.”
The Lord is richly blessing definite effort with the Signs Monthly magazine. Fifty-three thousand copies of the July number were sold. One young lady of five weeks’ experience, working in Stockton, Cal., writes: “I sold one hundred copies a day every day last week. The Lord is wonderfully blessing my work.”
