Poor Mexico Has Had a Fearful Time

Poor Mexico has had a fearful time. Almost immediately upon the heels of the awful earthquake disaster in the southwest, come the fearful floods in the northeast in and around the city of Monterey. The heavy fall of rain in the mountains gorged the mountain streams until they swept through the city, and it is said that 1,500 persons have been destroyed and property to the amount of $12,000,000. More than 400 bodies had been taken from the water August 29, and the last news from there was that the Santa Catarina River was still rising and the rain still falling in torrents.
