England and Sensational War Reports

We suggest to our readers that they take with several grains of salt what sensational American papers are saying about England’s “alarm” and “hysteria” over German war preparations, over the unrest in India, over the French air-ship which sailed over the Straits of Dover. Of the last mentioned, a sensational San Francisco morning paper has a great scare head, “England Gasps in New Alarm at French Aerial Invasion.” Nonsense. England has not been nearly so much disturbed or perturbed as some of our yellow journals have, and not nearly so much as they would have us believe.
