Bryan’s Unfermented Wine Banquet

On April 22 Secretary of State Bryan gave a banquet to some forty members of the diplomatic corps, at which he served his guests with unfermented wines. It takes a little courage to do things of this sort, but it is just the thing to be done, and it is to be hoped that his example in this respect will be widely copied. Those who have the courage to place the ban upon intoxicating wines and other strong drink, can well afford to enjoy the slighting remarks that some people will make about them for doing it.
