Wood Alcohol

The Journal of the American Medical Association notes two different firms which have been prosecuted for placing on the market productions containing wood alcohol. One of them bears the distinctly pretentious label, “Gran Liquore Della Stella Elixir Tonico Stomatico;” but it contained 20.46 per cent of methyl alcohol, and 8.08 per cent of ethyl alcohol by volume. “The Lucea Produce Wine Company,” composed of certain individuals, was prosecuted under the criminal act. Another person was sentenced to serve a term of seven months in the New York County penitentiary for doing the same things. Wood alcohol is poison.
