The Air-Ship and Suicide

The air-ship furnishes opportunities for suicide as well as for getting killed; for a German military officer, a few days since, shut off the engine of his ship when he was six hundred feet in the air, and was dashed to the ground and instantly killed. It was supposed to have been an accident until a letter he had previously written disclosed that he had chosen to commit suicide by the way of the air-ship. If the men and women who are committing suicide could only find the real joys of the Christian, and have the hope of immortality in their souls, the gloom that drives them to suicide would all be swept away.
